LUNA NOVA

Dépannage

Lens fogging or moisture inside the housing

Condensation visible inside the lens, water beading on the inside of the glass, or visible water pooling in the bottom of the housing.

Public: both30 min

Brass housings are sealed against direct water entry, not against atmospheric moisture migration. Distinguishing the two saves an unnecessary fixture swap.

Outils requis

  • Multimeter
  • Silicone grease (dielectric)
  • Replacement double O-ring set

Étapes

  1. 1

    Identify atmospheric vs ingress moisture

Atmospheric fog clears within 60-90 minutes of the fixture running and re-warming. Ingress moisture remains, beads, or pools. Atmospheric is normal in Canadian shoulder seasons; ingress is a warranty event.

  2. 2

    Check the lead-wire entry point

Inspect where the lead wire enters the housing for cracking or missing strain relief. This is the single most common ingress point on field-aged fixtures.

  3. 3

    Inspect the O-ring seal

Open the housing per the spec sheet. The double silicone O-ring should be intact, soft, and free of debris. If compressed flat, cracked, or missing, replace the ring set and re-grease.

  4. 4

Test the lamp / LED module dry

If moisture has reached the lamp socket, the lamp itself may be the issue. Dry the socket, swap in a known-good lamp, and verify operation before re-sealing.

  5. 5

    File the warranty claim

If the O-ring is intact and lead-wire entry is sealed but moisture persists, the housing has a casting defect or microcrack. File an RMA — covered under the 10-year surface warranty.
